Music Unveiled
Do you love classical music but want to get more out of your listening experience? Do you ever wonder how music is structured or what inspired composers? Or are you simply curious to know more? Join us at Galway City Library on Tuesday 24 February at 11am when Galway Music Residency will be offering a new way to learn about the music performed at its concerts so you can enjoy it on a whole new level.
Music Unveiled is a new Guided Listening and Lifelong Learning initiative supported by Galway City Council Arts Office’s Cultural Partnerships initiative. It is presented at Galway’s city libraries (Westside, Ballybane, City) in partnership with the University of Galway’s Department of Music.

Music Unveiled is a new Guided Listening and Lifelong Learning initiative. Music Unveiled will be paired with our Lunchtimes with ConTempo series during autumn 2025. Prior to three of these monthly concerts, Music Unveiled will deconstruct the featured classical and contemporary works, empowering you, the audience, to understand their structure, inspiration and context and the performers’ interaction with the work and/or composer.
At each event, a Music Department lecturer and a featured contemporary composer will offer information and insights with live demonstrations by ConTempo Quartet (GMR’s Ensemble in Residence). You can participate through questions and discussion or sit back and take it all in. Following these Music Unveiled sessions, you can listen deeply, more confidently and experience greater meaning at our Lunchtime with ConTempo Concerts (1st Tuesday of every month, October-December).
Music Unveiled and Lunchtimes with ConTempo are free, inclusive and accessible initiatives. The sessions will be filmed and made available online for those who can’t make it in person. Music Unveiled is supported by Galway City Council’s Cultural Partnerships Initiatives.
