The Golden Lion - Heritage Week Talk 2018

The Golden Lion is one of the oldest surviving public houses in Birmingham. The 16th century timber-framed building originally stood in Deritend, but in 1911 was moved to Cannon Hill Park. Even today a signboard with a golden lion still hangs on the building although it never operated as a pub in the park.

Join us to explore the history of the old inn sign and unravel its story and journey through time.

And where exactly did the building originally stand? We’ll share our research using old photos and the current street view as we piece together evidence to locate where it was moved from.

This two-part history talk is presented as a collaboration between Friends of the Golden Lion and Brum’s Ghost Signs. We are raising funds to place a new informational sign outside the Golden Lion in Cannon Hill Park. We want to provide fresh details about the building and its history and what our future plans for it are. Please consider including a donation with your ticket.
