Filmmakers Lab Session #4: Peer-to-Peer
Filmmakers Lab holds regular monthly social meet-up sessions at Exeter Phoenix, the multi-arts venue in the heart of Devon. We offer a regular programme of creative workshops, guest speakers, masterclasses and film screenings for members top expand their knowledge and practice. There are also opportunities for members to discuss and explore ideas around their current filmmaking project in a constructively supportive environment.
Peer-to-Peer Session: Preparing for Production
Filmmakers Lab peer-to-peer sessions provide the opportunity for members to talk about their own projects, discuss their challenges, successes and learning points and to get feedback and inspiration in a supportive and informal environment. Each session focuses on a particular aspect of the filmmaking process and is facilitated by one of the steering group members who will guide the discussion.
December’s session is entitled ‘Preparing for Production’ and will concentrate on the pre-production. The session is open to all members, and anyone who is planning or working on a project is especially welcome to contribute. Please bring along ideas, treatments, plans, schedules, budgets or other pre-production paperwork.
As a starting point for this session, we will be talking about the concept of ‘Comparables’, i.e. finding existing films which are similar to your project and can be used to demonstrate its viability. For information on ‘Comparables’ see Rob Brown’s talk at the October Filmmakers Lab on our Members FB Group: https://www.facebook.com/filmmakerslabuk/videos/250652629140301
