About the Speakers
Richard Bruton Richard is a former Irish politician from the Fine Gael party. Educated at University College Dublin and Oxford, he worked as an economist before entering politics. Elected as a TD in 1982, he served for over four decades, representing Dublin North-Central and later Dublin Bay North. Richard held key ministerial roles, including Minister for Enterprise (1994–1997), Jobs (2011–2016), Education (2016–2018), and Communications (2018–2020). He was Deputy Leader of Fine Gael (2002–2010) and chaired the party's parliamentary group (2020–2023). In 2023, he announced his retirement from politics.
Gerard O'Reilly Gerard is Co-CEO and Chief Investment Officer at Dimensional Fund Advisors, a global investment firm managing over $600 billion in assets. Gerard is a pioneer in evidence-based investing, blending academic research with practical application to deliver outstanding results for investors. A graduate of Trinity College Dubin, with a PhD in Aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology, his unique analytical perspective drives Dimensional’s mission to make markets work for all investors.
Jim Power Jim is a highly regarded Irish economist with decades of experience analysing economic trends and their impact on businesses and society. Known for his clear, accessible commentary, Jim frequently appears in media outlets, sharing his expertise on everything from housing markets to fiscal policy.
