Cackling Man - Youmacon 2026
(Recommended for Ages 13+)
Two Mysteries. One Terrifying Legend.
Enter the world of the Cackling Man through two different mystery adventures set within the same dark storyline. Experience the original mystery in Cabin of the Cackling Man, or return to the 1980s and discover how the nightmare began in its prequel, Night of the Cackling Man.
Each is a complete, standalone one-hour adventure. You may play either one—or experience both to uncover more of the mystery behind the Cackling Man. Both adventures are free to play at Youmacon!
Night of the Cackling Man
He's back...
It’s the 1980s, and a harmless slumber party dare has gone terribly wrong. The ritual worked. Now the hideous Cackling Man is coming for you. Trapped in a house that feels increasingly unsafe, your only hope is to keep him out until sunrise.
Strange late-night television flickers to life, broadcasting warped shows and corrupted commercials that seem to know you’re watching. Somewhere in the noise are warnings, rules, and clues left behind by those who faced the Cackling Man before—and survived.
The house remembers what happened here, and the night itself keeps secrets. Can you piece together the truth behind the urban legend and make it through the night, or will you become the Cackling Man’s next victims?
Watch the doors. Watch the windows. Listen to the television. Listen for the cackling. Do not let him inside.
Cabin of the Cackling Man
Cabin of the Cackling Man is an interactive horror experience inspired by creepypastas, 1980s urban legends, and retro video games.
Blending a fully playable video game with a physical environment, the experience unfolds across two connected spaces: the cabin itself and a strange video game found within it.
“Legend of Ultira” was supposed to be released in 1989 for the NES, but every known copy was destroyed and the company that developed it disappeared.
Decades later, a copy of the game finally turns up in a long-abandoned cabin, along with a dead body and references to an urban legend known as “The Cackling Man.”
Whatever happened here is about to happen again. Something has awakened in the woods, and it’s coming for you. You can already hear the cackling.
You will need to explore the space, interact with the game, and decide how to proceed as events unfold. The experience features multiple endings shaped by the choices you make along the way.
Can you solve the mystery behind a cursed video game and a strange occult ritual before midnight? Or will you be the next victim of the Cackling Man?

Player Q & A
What kind of events are these?
These are Adventure Rooms! For one hour, you and your team will become the heroes in an exciting story in which you must interact with your surroundings to accomplish a goal. You will investigate a mystery, follow clues, solve unusual puzzles, work as a team, play to your strengths, and experience a thrilling and memorable adventure!
So they're escape rooms?
Adventure Rooms share some DNA with escape rooms, but rather than focusing on puzzles alone, they emphasize exploration, story, atmosphere, and player choice—placing you inside a playable adventure where how you engage with the experience matters just as much as solving its challenges.
Which adventure should I play first?
Night of the Cackling Man is a prequel to Cabin of the Cackling Man, but each adventure tells a complete story and can be played independently. You may begin with either one. Playing both will reveal more of the history and mystery surrounding the Cackling Man.
Will I play with just my group or with strangers?
You mean lifelong buds you have not met yet? Anyone who registers for the same game session will play together, up to our maximum player count.
I often feel intimidated by escape rooms or left out of the group.
Our room directors are present throughout the adventure. Their job is to provide subtle guidance so you do not get stuck on anything not worth getting stuck on and to help every player feel included and able to contribute.
How long does it take to play?
Each adventure takes one hour. This includes your story briefing, play time, and debriefing.
What age group is this for?
The adventures are recommended for ages 13 and up. Younger players may participate when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children under 4 are free.
