Melissa Auf der Maur’s Even the Good Girls Will Cry is a captivating portrait of the 1990s; rock’s final decade in analogue. A creative shape-shifter, she joined the Smashing Pumpkins ahead of her work with Hole. Subsequently she has been acclaimed as a record producer, solo performer and photographer. Hear Melissa discuss her writing about the music and the personalities of the US alt-rock scene, at Eason this April.

About the book Thanks to a thrown beer bottle and a fan letter to a P.O. box, Melissa Auf der Maur's first band scored an opening slot for the Smashing Pumpkins in her bohemian home town, Montreal. Sensing Melissa's talent, Billy Corgan recommended her to Courtney Love. Whisked from her local scene, Melissa joined Hole just after the deaths of Kurt Cobain and Hole's prior bassist, Kristen Pfaff, with the just-widowed Courtney Love at the centre of it all.
That was only the beginning of Melissa's journey through alternative rock, a trip she undertook alongside 90s luminaries including Rufus Wainwright, Michael Stipe and her former boyfriend, Dave Grohl. Even the Good Girls Will Cry is a vivid dispatch from the last analogue decade, capturing that bygone era in all its messy, angsty glory.

- There are 2 ticket options. Tickets are €5 (redeemable in-store) or €16.99 (which includes a copy of the book) and are available to purchase on www.easons.com.
- Your ticket at €5 is a voucher which can be redeemable against books purchased on the day. This voucher can only be used to purchase books on the day at the venue specified. You cannot use this voucher at a later date.
- You will be required to show your ticket on the day of the event, to gain entry, and as proof of purchase.
- Entry to the event is by ticket only.
- Those without tickets will be turned away.
- Max of four tickets per order.
- Latecomers may be refused admission.

- Tickets shall not be purchased or obtained from or through any person, commercial agent, company or otherwise than directly by the applicant from Eason.
- Any tickets advertised for resale will be void.

- Due to the nature of the event, the end time will be determined by the promoters on the day.

- Anyone arriving to the venue earlier than 6:30pm will be asked to return at the time mentioned.
