It will be in a small group setting to allow for your questions to be answered and for you to become empowered on your pregnancy, birth journey, and afterward. Independent Decision Making is at the heart of what I teach, building confidence for birth and beyond.

Additional Information

I am Fidelma Whelan, a student Antenatal Teacher who is completing her certification with Antenatal Ireland.  Antenatal Ireland are Cuidiú trained and registered antenatal educators who work throughout Ireland. This course is part of my final certification process.

Antenatal Ireland courses are different from hospital-based antenatal courses.

I will be focused on empowering parents on their pregnancy, birth, and parenthood journey. The class will be limited to a small group to allow plenty of time for questions, discussion, practice, and reflection. It is a course for both partners to attend, as we look at birth for you as a team.

We will discuss all birth options so that you can decide what is the right option for you and at the heart of everything we do together over two days will be the practice of Independent Decision Making - which means you get to decide your birth preferences. You will gain the skills and knowledge to put it into practice.

The course is run over two days to allow you time to absorb the information and to give you a chance to come back with any questions on the second day. Topics covered will include: - independent decision making - comfort measures - labour stages - hormones - when should I go to the hospital? - pain relief - birth - delayed cord clamping - caesarean birth - breast feeding - normal baby behaviours - postpartum planning - caring for baby

You will also have a chance to let me know if there is something that you would like to cover specifically. All these topics are covered in a fun and active way.
