Session Abstract
Visualising Open Data with NEO4J
The Open Data movement has exploded recently as governments and public agencies publish more and more diverse data.
Public transport data is probably the most well-known, used for apps to get people from Point A to B, but much other information is available: crime statistics, pollution levels, traffic accidents, real-time 911 calls.
Finding an interesting data set is only the beginning, the next challenge is doing something interesting. One approach is to map data into Neo4J and visualize the relationships in the Neo4J browser and query the data to show interesting subsets.
Firstly introducing the Open Data movement and providing places to start looking, Scott will take examples and model in Neo4J and show results in Neo4J browser in this deep-dive presentations spanning two 60 minute sessions.

About Scott
Scott is a long-time software engineer and architect in multiple "cool" technologies in recent time but, fortunately, has never been tarnished by working in Fortran or COBOL. Working primarily in Java shops in recent memory, his primary responsibility is designing/implementing server-side, back-end solutions and supporting application teams with framework and library development.
At multiple gigs, he's helped establish development standards and best practices, implemented tools to assist development, and mentored many engineers in his many years.
Cool fact: almost bounced on his 33rd skydive! Ask nicely and he'll tell the story!
