Micronaut Framework is a new Spring Boot competitor. It has it all; it’s small, reactive, fast and has multiple integration modules for interaction with databases and other external systems.

This presentation is all about comparing features and usage of Spring Boot and Micronaut Framework. Rick will show you when it makes sense to use it, how it compares with Spring, where it shines and where it, well....smells!

20:30 - Spring Boot + Docker Redeploy Optimization

In this presentation Rick will show you how to create lean Docker images where using tools like Google jib (https://github.com/GoogleContainerTools/jib), how to make idempotent, reproducible images for faster deployments, how to increment versions in compliance with Semanantic Versioning 2.0.0, how to optimize Spring Boot startup and how to use effectively skaffold and Jenkins X
