Additional Information

Workshop Abstract

Barry will start off by explaining some core Docker and container concepts, and he will then show you how to install Docker on your machine.

You will follow Barry as he demonstrates in live coding how to run basic Docker commands, create your own Dockerfile, and even make a cow talk!

A review of the main Dockerfile instructions available, and how to interact with Docker registries follows.

The session will finish off with steps for connecting your containers to the world, looking at some of the common Docker commands you would use in the real world, and how to manage you own containers by using the docker CLI.

NOTE: A laptop with the latest version of Linux or Windows is required for participation.

Windows users should pre-install Docker for Windows before attending the workshop. It is recommended to sign up for a Docker Hub account before the workshop so you can carry out all the sections on your own machine.
