In this presentation, Samuel will dive into the journey of replatforming a critical microservice from bare metal to the cloud, leveraging modern technologies like Spring WebFlux and Kubernetes. 

This microservice, which handles thousands of requests per second with a stringent response time requirement of under 50ms, posed unique challenges and opportunities for optimization. 

Together with Samuel, we’ll explore the architectural decisions, implementation strategies, and the use of Gatling for rigorous load testing to ensure performance and reliability in the cloud environment. 

You will gain insights into best practices for migrating legacy systems to cloud-native solutions, overcoming performance bottlenecks, and achieving scalability and resilience in high-throughput applications.

About Samuel Teixeira

Samuel Teixeira is a Staff Software Engineer at Integral Ad Science. Previously, he worked as Technical Lead for HubSpot, Mifinity, and for other companies in Ireland and Brazil. He has over 15 years of professional experience, mainly dedicated for Web development using many languages and frameworks.

For the last 10 years he is being working with the Java ecosystem, helping companies with different sizes and maturity to succeed.

Some of the technologies used in this path includes: Spring, Dropwizard, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, Docker.
