Drupal Engineer to Application Security Champion

by Nadir Hajiyani

Why Making Your Website Accessible Should Be a Priority

by Kim Kubali

Ensuring a website can be used by people with disabilities doesn’t have to be an additional layer of work for your project. Many of the considerations involved in making your site more accessible will improve design and usability as well as SEO rankings. Drupal includes many tools out of the box for a more accessible website. However, understanding accessibility features can help your site be even more inclusive.

In this presentation, we will discuss:

  • Who needs accessibility on a website.
  • How to address the key challenges of creating an accessible website.
  • How to create a workflow for an accessible website.
  • How accessibility features can assist with a well designed website.
  • Introduce tools in Drupal that will get you started.

Bio

Kim is a developer at the United Nations supporting a wide range of Drupal sites. She has developed websites using various technologies for 20 years and used Drupal for the last 10 years. She lives in NYC.

Faster by default

by Ben Morss

By now, we’ve all heard about the importance of web performance. But how can you tell whether your site is fast enough? And how can you get the most impact for the least work? We'll talk about the new Core Web Vitals metrics and show how to measure and monitor those for your site. Then we'll go through some ways to speed up your Drupal site, and we'll share ideas for how Drupal sites could be faster by default.

Bio

Ben is a Developer Advocate at Google, where he’s working to help the Web be faster and more beautiful. Prior to Google, he worked at the New York Times and AOL, and before that he was a full-time musician. He earned his BA in Computer Science at Harvard and a PhD in Music at the University of California. Rumor is that he still runs a band called Ancient Babies.
