One-day Open Space

Please join us on Saturday, May 12 for a One-Day Open Space! This is an independently-run event, by and for the London and Cambridge software communities. With Socrates UK approaching fast, whether you're an Open Space veteran or newcomer, come along for a day of learning and sharing ideas.

Who should attend?

This event is geared towards people who work in or are interested in software development. All disciplines are welcome: software engineering, product management, design, testing, managers, and more. All experience levels are welcome, whether you are just beginning your journey or if you've spent many years in the industry.

What is an Open Space?

An Open Space is a loosely structured conference (you may have heard the term "unconference") where the timeslots and rooms are decided, but the content is decided on the day of, by the participants. Most sessions usually end up being about software development, methodology, practices, people skills, etc.

What sessions have been run in the past?

A huge variety of topics including "Mob Programming in Rust", "AWS Explained Like I'm 5", "How to Give Better Feedback", "Functional Reactive Programming in JavaScript", "Going 'Post-Technical'", "Diversity in Tech Retrospective" and many more! You do not have to be a subject matter expert to propose a session!

Why is no food provided at this event?

This is an independently-organised event with no sponsor. Pivotal's office has snacks and drinks which you are welcome to, but we will not be organising breakfast or lunch. (Why not charge for a ticket price? Long story short... we wanted to, but Denise failed to sort out UK business registration ahead of time and it's not legal for us to personally charge for tickets on this platform!)

Code of Conduct:

We will be observing the Community Code of Conduct at this event:

Our community is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of community members in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any community event, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event and any future events at the discretion of the organisers.
