Tech Talks for Beginners - workshop - London

Outcomes

In this 1-day workshop, you will learn how to develop and deliver a tech talk based on the work you've been doing recently. We help you develop a talk from nothing through to draft slides, giving you confidence to submit talks to meetup groups and tech conferences.

Your glittering career in technology public speaking (or just the occasional talk at a meetup group) starts here!

Is this for me?

If your work is related to designing, building or running some kind of software, and you want to get started with speaking, this workshop is for you.

Details

Based on the work you have been doing recently, we uncover some interesting material that you could talk about. We then refine the focus and establish a basic narrative structure for the talk, before beginning to create a draft set of slides. The workshop ends with talk showcases from each of the attendees.

  • 09:30 - introductions and overview
  • 10:00 - material discovery
  • 11:00 - narrative development
  • 12:30 - lunch
  • 13:30 - create draft slides
  • 15:00 - talk showcases
  • 16:30 - close

The workshop is collaborative and interactive - please expect to share experience and work with others in the group. Your talk will be better for it!

We provide tea/coffee and a light lunch (sandwiches & fruit).

What to bring

Please bring your own laptop for slides (or pad of A4 paper if you prefer), and some details of things you have recently worked on.
