CodeBase Health Tech Meetup

A quarterly evening meetup to discuss emerging Healthtech advances. Bringing together clinicians, startups, computer scientists and biologists, the meetup will showcase the most interesting work in the field.

Chaired by Jamie Coleman, CoFounder of CodeBase and UltraHuman.

Happy to say that Michael Clark from RelayMed will be running a pop up food stall for the event. He will have lots of healthy and tasty salads for you to try and keep you energised.

Schedule:

Speakers for the evening:

Professor Kev Dhaliwal BSc (Hons), MBChB (Hons), FRCP, PhD

Professor Kev Dhaliwal is a consultant physician in NHS Lothian and Chair of Molecular Imaging & Healthcare Technology at the UoE based at Edinburgh Bioquarter. He trained in Edinburgh and London for medicine and scientifically trained in Edinburgh. His passions are developing new interventional technologies and also supporting early career researchers and doctors develop new ideas and create impactful products. He directs a Healthcare Technology Accelerator Facility which aims to support commercial development of novel technologies in healthcare. He has co-founded 2 companies and works with a wide range of industrial partners ranging from SMEs to strategics. He intends to collaborate closely with Codebase to help support a new wave of healthcare products with an ethos of “bottom up innovation”.

Annabel Kramer, Data Scientist.

Annabel joined Current Health as an Intern in 2017 and once she graduated joined the Data Science team as a permanent member . Annabel graduated from Edinburgh University with a 1st class honours in Cognitive Science. She is also very active in the tech community encouraging and supporting women and underrepresented groups who are interested in programming. At Current, she is responsible for a wide range of data-driven tasks, including developing, validating, deploying and monitoring vital sign estimation algorithms using real time sensor data from the device and research into behavioural & vital-sign related markers for deterioration.

Stewart Whiting, Ph.D., chief technology officer and co-founder.

Stewart co-founded Current Health and is the company's CTO. Stewart is one of Europe's top data science talents and has over 20 publications with over 200 citations. He received a B.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Glasgow. At Current, he is responsible for the research and development of robust vital sign estimation and health monitoring algorithms, as well as the development of models for predicting the trajectory of human health.
