Writing blogs can be beneficial to technical careers and is a great way to learn new things and get better at writing, but where to start?

In this workshop we’ll cover the why, what, and how of writing blogs: digging into the benefits of blogging, how to find topics to write about, tips for the writing process, and how to get your work out there.

Create your first pipeline with GitHub Actions - Emma Jourzac

This workshop introduces CI/CD pipelines by exploring what they are, the tools used to automate software updates, and the differences between continuous integration, delivery, and deployment. You'll get hands-on by creating a GitHub repository, setting up a workflow with a YAML file, and pushing changes to see a pipeline run in real time.

Designing for Everyone: Building Accessible and Inclusive Interfaces - Michael Okolo

This session is a practical, beginner-focused introduction to designing accessible and inclusive user interfaces. Many developers want to create interfaces that everyone can use, but often feel unsure about where to start, what accessibility involves, or how to apply it in real projects. This workshop breaks accessibility down into simple concepts and clear, actionable steps that any developer can follow, regardless of their experience level or design background.

Ever wondered how apps talk to each other? In this hands-on workshop, we'll demystify APIs by building one from scratch using Node.js and Express.

What you'll learn: - What an API actually is (no jargon\, I promise) - How to create endpoints that respond to requests - Building a mini CRUD application in 90 minutes

Data Science for Beginners - Nigel Tart

In this workshop, you'll learn the difference between data analytics and data science, then write a basic linear regression model, using the Python stack, online on the Kaggle platform.

This workshop is suitable for python coders with no previous knowledge or experience of data science.

Charlene - AI & Ethics: Why Data Quality and Fairness Matter


Artificial intelligence(AI) systems rely on data, lots of it. And because data is created by people and shaped by society, it isn’t neutral. 

Together, we will explore what can go wrong when biased or poor-quality data is used at scale, including how people can be misidentified, excluded, harmed or treated unfairly.
