  • Enter the world of sweet-smelling herbs and plants and experience how they can be helpful to us in all sorts of simple ways. Depending on the time of year, your child will experience and make a selection from: - Fresh Herbal Teas - Calendula Balm (lip balm and for cuts & scrapes) - Foot baths / Herbal bathbombs - Herbal Honeys - Sweet Dreams Balm / Spray - Sage toothbrush - Elderberry Syrup, for coughs and colds - Meadowsweet Glycerite, for sore tummies & headaches All items made will be taken home by participants. €10 materials charge applies. Only the finest natural ingredients will be used. On both days we will take a fun herbal walk, to forage, identify and collect plants for use (and for Tea!) and allowing us to see the plants growing in their natural environment. Children can also choose some plants to examine under our microscope for that essential ‘Wow!’ factor. Suitable footwear / outdoor clothing required.   • This course in Silver jewellery making is suitable for beginners as well as for people who already have some silver or metal work skills and would like to increase their level of knowledge and ability, offering the opportunity to use a comprehensive range of specialist tools, diverse equipment and offering hands-on instruction in how to use these correctly and safely. The course includes instruction in use of a blowtorch for soldering and annealing purposes through to stone-setting and professional finishing and polishing. At the beginning of the course each student is consulted about what they would like to make and offered ideas and creative design advice. During the day there will be demonstrations and talks about various silver working techniques so that, by the end of the course, students have a good understanding of the compelling and diverse ways that we can use this fabulous metal to create inspiring jewellery pieces. A selection of high quality semi-precious stones that can be purchased from the tutor and used for stone-setting is available. The silver is in the form of sheet and differing sizes of wire. Students pay for the silver that they use on the course with pieces being weighed at the end of the day. Average costing of E20-40. An additional charge is payable of 4 Euro pp general workshop materials charge, plus cost of silver according to amount used. Also bring protective apron if you can. Course tutor: Susi Lewisohn.

  • This course is an introduction to the tools, template design and basic techniques of leatherworking, where participants can expect to make several small hand-stitched items, eg. small bag, belt, purse, phone or knife pouch. Dyeing leather is also included. Tutor: Len Canton A fee will be due to the tutor based on materials used.
