Rob Forbes, founder of both PUBLIC Bikes and Design Within Reach, leads the Herman Miller Design Ride through the city Alfred Hitchcock called “the Paris of America.” We start at the Rapha Clubhouse and head out to the Golden Gate Bridge, Crissy Field, and historic Fort Point. Then, with the Pacific on our right, it’s down the Great Highway and through Golden Gate Park to the De Young Museum—a copper-clad icon designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects Herzog and de Meuron. Next up is Hayes Valley for tacos, mescal, and Smitten ice cream before we zip down Market Street to the Bay for a stop at the Ferry Plaza and a liberating view of Alcatraz. ride should last around two hours. Come prepared with a puncture repair kit, a snack, and helmet. Pedals with foot retention are not required.
