Rapha Paydirt Explore Ride - OCA
Join Rapha to explore the route of the Old Croton Aqueduct which carried fresh drinking water to New York City from 1842 to 1955. Most of the aqueduct structure lies beneath 26 miles of dirt and gravel trails. We will pick up it’s trail where it first entered Manhattan over the High Bridge and follow it all the way up to it’s source 40 miles north by the Croton Dam.
Please note that the majority of this ride takes place on dirt/gravel roads and trails, including a few rough sections. Expect a full day of adventure. The pace for this ride will be moderate and we’ll stick together throughout the ride. Please bring (2) spare tubes, flat changing tools and ride snacks. Tires 25mm or wider are strongly recommended and clipless pedals and helmets are required.
We will meet at 8:00 am at Rapha New York for a coffee and roll out at 8:30. The ride will end at Croton on Hudson where we’ll catch the train back to the city. If you do not have one, please purchase a bike pass for $5 in advance. They are required on Metro North and are valid for life. You may purchase one only at Grand Central.
