SPACEBALLS (1987) | PIZZA | WEDNESDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2015 | THE CROFTERS RIGHTS

Back in the early 80s, Star Wars was all the rage. Little, it seems, has changed.

As with anything that becomes so popular it becomes ubiquitous, it also becomes ripe for spoof. Mel Brooks was known for his note perfect comedy spoofs Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and of course The Producers. Spaceballs marks his last great swing and a hit before his decline. It's gleefully silly, and utterly puerile, and has no pretence at great commentary or depth beyond poking fun at the behemoth that Star Wars had become. But it does it so well.

And, this year, with the imminent arrival of the new Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, it is as relevant as it's ever been.

So, join Cannoli & Gun as we head to The Crofters Rights in Stoke's Croft and serve up delicious margherita pizza supplied by the brilliant Rays. Use the schwartz, enjoy the wisdom of Yogurt, and try not to incur the wrath of Pizza the Hutt.
