Sleepless City | Special Screening + Q&A

Cambridge Film Festival presents a special screening of Sleepless City (Ciudad sin sueño), winner of our Golden Punt Jury Award at CFF44.

Directed by Guillermo Galoe, this stunning debut feature follows 13-year-old Toni as his world fractures after his family receives an eviction notice in Cañada Real — Europe's largest shantytown on the outskirts of Madrid. Vibrant, melancholy, and immersive, the film is both a portrait of a micro-society and a pointed critique of the Roma community's marginal status in Spanish culture.

Premiered at Cannes Critics' Week 2025 | In Spanish with English subtitles | 97 mins. Age certificate: CFF15

Followed by a Q&A with CFF Golden Punt Jury Member Prof. Tanya Horeck in conversation with Dr Isaias Fanlo, Associate Professor of Modern and Contemporary Iberian Cultures at the University of Cambridge.
