Cemetery

In a year in which Cambridge recorded the highest ever UK temperature, and the Amazon saw far more widespread fires, the Cambridge Film Festival presents a holistic series of environmental art/doc films that asks the viewer to consider what an environmental film is and what it can be.

Cemetery - France/United Kingdom/Poland/Uzbekistan, 2019, 85 Mins - DIRECTOR Carlos Casas

English and Sinhalese with English subtitles.

A film about death, reincarnation and immortality, where Hindu and Buddhist traditions mix. About memory, colonialism, discovery, loss of innocence and the demise of sanctuaries and unexplored territories. A road film on elephants, a sound-oriented film guided by a monologue voice over. The amazing sounds of the jungle and a deep research on the sonic language of the elephant. A requiem for the unknown, the undiscovered and for our own Shangri-La.
