Inclusive Insights: Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace

In partnership with Diversity Mark, we are thrilled to announce a new series of monthly online sessions that aim to support businesses in creating more diverse and inclusive workplaces.

By sharing best practice and raising awareness, we will explore a variety of themes including race, age, gender, and social mobility, and examine how these themes intersect.

Promoting Social Mobility through Inclusive Employment practices | Tuesday 22 October| 10:00 - 10:45 AM

This session will explore the critical role that inclusive employment practices play in promoting social mobility. We will explore strategies that organisations can adopt to foster equitable opportunities, nurture diverse talent, and ultimately, narrow the gap between potential and accomplishment.

Attendees will hear from Ulster University's Senior Economist, Marguerite Shannon, who will provide an overview of social mobility in Northern Ireland, highlighting regional inequalities and the subsequent barriers they create when trying to accessing jobs.

Kerrie Townsend, HR Operations Manager at NI Water will then demonstrate how, with those barriers in mind, recruitment strategies can be flexed to open up opportunities and progress in the workplace.

Building a Stronger Organisation: The Business Case for Employee Resource Groups | Tuesday 19 November| 10:00 - 10:45 AM

This session will delve into the business rationale behind employee resource groups, demonstrating their role in forging a more unified and robust organisation. We will discuss the concrete advantages they offer, ranging from boosting employee contentment and retention to fostering innovation and bolstering organisational performance.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a business on their experience and there will also be an open discussion and Q&A.

Empowering Working Carers: Practical Support for Line Managers | Tuesday 10 December| 10:00 - 10:45 AM

This session will delve into the unique requirements of working caregivers and outline practical measures that line managers can implement to offer meaningful support. Our specialist speakers will provide their perspectives on optimal practices, tangible case studies, and the beneficial effects of supportive management for both the workforce and the organisation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a business on their experience and there will also be an open discussion and Q&A.
