Flash Gordon

ADVANCE TICKETS NO LONGER AVAILABLE - A LIMITED NUMBER WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE GATE

Welcome to Bristol Sunset Cinema's outdoor screening of Flash Gordon - just in time to celebrate its 35th anniversary!

American football hero Flash (Sam Jones) is dragged from Earth to the outer reaches of the Universe where he must battle the evil dictatorship of Ming the Merciless (Max von Sydow). He is helped by technical wizard Dr Hans Zarkov (Topol), the winged Prince Vultan (Brian Blessed) and the brooding Prince Barin (a pre-Bond Timothy Dalton). Queen provide the film's amazing soundtrack.

FAQs

On The Night

What time will it start?

We hope to get the film started for 8pm, however if it is not yet dark enough by that time, we may have to wait an additional 10-20 mins. However, it's all part of the fun of outdoor screenings!

Can I bring children?

Flash Gordon is a family film with a PG rating, so children are more than welcome! However, please ensure that your children are accompanied by an adult at all times and that they do not disturb other audience members during the screening.

What if it rains?

In the event of wet weather, the screening will still go ahead - this is the UK! Make sure you check the forecast and dress appropriately. Make sure you bring warm (maybe also waterproof!) clothing and a blanket if you wish, as it does get colder in the evenings. Unfortunately we cannot give refunds if it rains.

Only in the case of extreme weather, such as dangerously high winds, will the screening be cancelled.

What should I wear?

Bring warm clothes, layers and blankets as it can get very cool towards the end of a screening. If the forecast looks a bit dodgy, pack some waterproofs just in case.

What should I bring?

  • A picnic
  • A torch or lantern to find your way in the dark
  • Warm clothes and blankets
  • A raincoat
  • Something comfy to sit on

Chairs are welcome [low ones preferred!] but you may be asked to sit at the side or the back to avoid blocking other people’s view of the screen

Note: please be considerate if using an umbrella during a screening as it may block the view of those around you.

Can I bring a BBQ?

In order to keep the area around the heritage site as undisturbed as possible, BBQs will not be permitted.

Can I bring my dog?

As attendees will be having picnics and the sound system can be quite loud, we unfortunately have to say that no dogs are permitted at the screening for everyone's enjoyment on the night.

Is there parking?

Parking in Clifton is notoriously difficult, so public transport would be best. However street parking can be found in and around the local area.

Tickets

Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds on ticket purchases, except when we have had to cancel an event. You can, however, reallocate your tickets to someone else if you can no longer attend a screening you have bought tickets for – contact bristolsunsetcinema@gmail.com to do so.
