Schon on Dynamic Conservatism in Systems
Next in our Papers in Systems discussion series: From the REITH LECTURES 1970: Change and Industrial Society: Lecture 2 "Dynamic Conservatism" by Donald Schon
From the paper:
"The example is characteristic of social systems, whether it’s the social system of a ship or an industrial firm or a business firm or a community. The system always contains at least three elements or dimensions which are locked into one another: a social structure—which is a set of related roles and authority relationships—a technology and a theory. And by a theory I don’t mean an academic or sociological theory about the system: I mean what it is that’s believed that causes people in the system to do what they do."
The discussion will be led by Hibri Marzook
When: November 4th, 2024, 3PM - 4PM Eastern Time (US/Canada). The Zoom room will remain open until 4:30PM for informal discussion. Check time in your time zone.
