Bitlink Bytes Regional Roadshow @ Zeehan

Bitlink is on the road and coming to you!

We are hosting FREE technology workshops at Study Hub West Coast this Easter holidays for youth aged 9 - 16 years old. These workshops are a part of our 2025 Bitlink Bytes Regional Roadshow, which will take the Bitlink team all across Tasmania! We are running these FREE technology workshops with thanks to a recent STEM education grant and will set our sights on a different regional area in Tasmania, for every coming school holiday period.

The first regional areas we're visiting are the West Coast and North West Coast of Tasmania!

On Sunday April 13th we will be at: Study Hub West Coast (6 Frederick St, Zeehan, TAS 7469) from 10am - 3pm.

We will be running the following sessions:

Session 1: 10am - 12pm Clicktastic! (9 - 12yr olds) Create your own clicker game in MakeCode Arcade. Each time you click, you earn points. Can you compete with your friends and click your way to a new high score? Come along and make your own 2D video game to share with your friends and family!

Session 2: 1pm - 3pm Pixel Artist (9 - 16yr olds) Learn some basics about making your own artworks using free online pixel art tools! Create your own artistic masterpiece to take home and display, and start your fascination with this diverse and flexible artistic medium of expression!

Each session is primarily targeted towards 9 - 12 year olds, however some sessions will allow for slightly older or younger participants.

These sessions are also supported by Children's University and so bring along your passports and gain some additional hours!

Bitlink Bytes are a series of workshops that will give children a taste of how to become creators rather than consumers of technology! All sessions are designed as introductory sessions. If your child has worked with technology before then we will mentor them on how they can go that little bit further and create something new.

Please note:

Parents/Guardians are welcome to sit in on these sessions. If you choose to do this, please do not book a ticket for yourself (parents/guardians can attend without a ticket).

These sessions are popular and the tickets are free. We often exhaust our full ticket allocation and have people on a waiting list. If you have booked a ticket and are no longer able to attend that session, please email Troy at troy@bitlink.com.au to let us know, so that we can pass that ticket on to another attendee.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government. This project is also supported by Libraries Tasmania, the Tasmanian Government and Children's University.
