Mapping Public Interest Tech Ecosystems

What does your community need to deliver effective digital services and ensure ethical machine decision-making in the future? What tools, platforms, resources, people and organizations need to be in place? How will you ensure that data-driven decisions work for the people, by the people?

Join BetaNYC and our civic tech friends for a day long workshop at MozHouse that asks what a healthy public interest tech ecosystem looks like through a four freedoms framework [connect / collaborate / learn / innovate]. We will break out into groups to share, discuss and map out best practices for strengthening a community's: - civic talent pipeline and fellowship, - education and training, - advocacy and research, - and civic services and tools

Learning from one each other's experiences, we will make recommendations for the future, and create artifacts to share back our insights at Mozilla Festival over the weekend.

This event is co-hosted with Sunlight Foundation, Civic Hall's Civic Tech Field Guide. There will be a happy hour directly following the event. Please reserve a ticket if you plan to attend.
