The River Wild

Why?

The River Lagan has a wealth of wildlife both in its waters and around its shores, including an amazing array of birds, otters and even seals. Few people get to see that wildlife at close quarters from the river itself, but we have the solution! Let us take you on a journey out on the water in search of these amazing creatures.

What is it?

Aimed at people aged 8 up, and including families, your trip will begin at the Belfast Boat Club, Stranmillis, with an interesting talk by a Lagan Valley Regional Park warden about some of the wonderful creatures that live around the River. This is followed by a trip out on the beautiful River Lagan estuary from the Boat Club, led by a qualified paddlesports instructor from Belfast Boat Club and Lagan Valley Regional Park staff

You will be in canoes that are rafted together to give stability, and buoyancy aids are provided, so no previous paddling experience is necessary.

Please note:- we cannot guarantee that you will see specific animals, but there is always something fascinating to see from the viewpoint of a canoe on the water!
