Bats About Boats

Bats about boats

Why?

The River Lagan has a wealth of wildlife both in its waters and around its shores, and one of the most fascinating creatures around the river is the elusive bat. Few people have been able to see bats from the river itself, but we have the solution! Let us take you on a journey out on the water in search of these amazing creatures.

What is it?

Aimed at people aged 11 up, and including families, your night will begin at the Belfast Boat Club, Stranmillis, with an interesting talk by a Lagan Parks warden about the bats that live around the River. This is followed by a trip out on the beautiful River Lagan, armed with bat detectors, with our qualified paddlesports instructor.

You will be in canoes that are rafted together to give stability, and buoyancy aids are provided, so no previous paddling experience is necessary.
