Chateau Haut-Bailly Wine Dinner at Lake Park Bistro

Chateau Haut-Bailly produces some of the best Bordeaux available. Wine writer Neal Martin, Wine Advocate’s Bordeaux critic, gave Haut-Bailly’s 2015 vintage a score of 95-97 points on a scale of 100. You can experience these critically-acclaimed wines during a special dinner at Lake Park Bistro on Thursday, September 22.

Château Haut-Bailly is one of the few wineries where terroir truly affects production of the wine. Located south of the city of Bordeaux, Haut-Bailly’s distinctive style combines classicism with modernity, and elegance with structure. The exceptional maturity of the tannins along with the silky smoothness of the wines have become their trademarks.

The property was created in the 1630s and passed through various hands until 1872 when it was acquired by engineer Alcide Henri Bellot des Minieres who built the Chateau and planted the ancestors of the vineyards used today. In the mid-1950s, the Sanders family bought the property and replanted much of it as much of the property had fallen into disrepair. New York banker Robert Wilmers bought the property in 1998 and invested heavily in it - the investment paid off with rising critical acclaim and climbing prices.

Véronique Sanders, managing Director of the Cru Classé, says, “We do everything in the traditional way…and try to achieve wines which have charm.” Haut-Bailly’s wines are perfect for savoring when they are young and will also stand the test of time.
