Michael McGarry, Director, McGarry Ní Éanaigh Architects Michael McGarry is a skilled architect and urban designer with a broad experience of over 35 years in Ireland, the UK and Germany. He is currently director in McGarry Ní Éanaigh Architects and co-founder of Dublin Central Architects. The range of his experience includes some of the most significant buildings and urban developments of the twentieth century such as Lloyds in London and masterplanning for IBA Berlin 1987. In Ireland he was a director of Group 91 Architects - winners of the plan for Temple Bar Framework Plan; and director of Urban Projects - winners of the RTPI Abercrombie Gold Medal and of the RIAI Silver Medal for housing. A core strength of Michael’s is his ability to identify that which is critical within complex design challenges.
Tom Faulkner, Director of Development, Hines Ireland, will join our panel to discuss the issue of high rise buildings, following Michael McGarry’s presentation on “Light, Height and Regulation – An Insight into the Culture of High Rise Buildings”.
Hines is one of largest real estate companies in the world across all major property types and geographies. Tom joined Hines in mid-2018, bringing a passion mixed-use development to new business and early stage projects with international experience in high-rise and air-rights development abroad. Recently, Hines completed a study tour of Scandinavia to investigate design and development techniques that could inform our Irish pipeline.
Tom will join Councillor Hazel Chu of the Green Party and Councillor James Geoghegan of Fine Gael to what the CBA hopes, will be an informative and lively discussion on an immediate issue affecting planning and construction law.
The CBA Summer Party in the Sheds Bar immediately follows the Summer Presentation, where in addition to a drinks reception, some food and live music, there will be a number of spot prizes of magnums of champagne to take home for the lucky winners!
