The Mad House Marrakech Presents: An internationally-minded hour of hilarious, challenging comedy. Stand up meets storytelling as Matt Davis adds Marrakech to the 250+ cities across 50+ countries in which he has performed.

Matt masterfully jokes about language, nationality, & global/regional customs in an effort to dismiss the equation 'familiar equals good.'

Come laugh along with a performer selected by prestigious, global comedy arts festivals: including Just for Laughs festival in Montreal, JFL42 in Toronto, Sketch Fest in San Francisco, KLICfest in Malaysia, UICF in Utrecht, Netherlands, the Bengaluru Comedy Festival in India, the Top of the World Comedy Festival in Nepal, and others.

Full Bio Matt Davis began performing in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, USA at the age of seventeen. He quickly made a name for himself as a comedian, rising through the usual club and festival levels throughout the southeastern and midwest US before expanding to the rest of the country; Canada; and the Caribbean. Touring 40+ weeks a year through is twenties, Matt put out 6 comedy albums and several hours of stand up comedy videos; amassing over a million views on youtube before that was a given. (He would like you to know he cringes at all of it). His last released album was recorded in 2009 and released in 2010; saying he wouldn’t do another until after he was forty- years-old.

Matt’s early thirties were spent between Los Angeles and (you guessed it) relentlessly touring in North America. But it was a new found sobriety and two runs of shows (one in the Middle East and one in China), and not Los Angeles, that changed his trajectory by prompting the World In Jest project. In an effort to prove that communities of common interest supersede man-made division and borders, Matt attempted to tour for a year outside the US using only the momentum and finances of the tour to keep it going; show-to-show, city-to-city, country-to-country. In the 13 months of the World in Jest project, he was able to produce and perform over 100 shows in over 30 countries (a number he is now close to doubling); including many countries where he was the first international or American artist to work with local scenes (Mongolia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Bosnia-Herzegovina to name a few).

With the World in Jest project successfully concluding its initial point, it was closed. Matt has, however, continued to refine its purpose and expand its efforts, leading to BadFamiliar and the live show of the same name. He is also now 40-years-old... so keep an eye out for that.
