  • This tutorial series is aimed at those with little or no previous harp experience. At the end of this course students will be aware of foundational posture, hand position and articulation for effective harp playing; they will have learnt a selection of fun beginner pieces, leading to their first Irish jig. Úna’s videos are concise, accompanied by pdfs of course materials, and delivered in her trademark engaging, clear style. These tutorials will be available to view until 23rd October 2022.

  • Steve Cooney uses the system of Geometric Visualisation of music which was developed over 30 years ago to simplify the notation and calculation of music: rhythm, melody and harmony. The workshop is aimed at those working with children, those with difficulties reading staff notation or anyone with an interest in exploring an alternative way to understand rhythm, melody and harmony. Participants will learn how harmonies are created and work on simple systems that will help them to develop exciting harmonies on their own.   • Edward Bunting: In Manuscript and Print. This presentation by Eilís Lavelle focuses on the development of two specific melodies found in the unpublished manuscripts – Molly McAlpin and Fanny Power. These two tunes are used as examples to demonstrate Bunting’s style of alteration for the purpose of his publications. The difference between manuscript notations and Bunting’s publication of the melodies will be explored. This Talk will be available to view online until 24th November 2021.
