Crowd Psychology for Crowd Safety Management
This 2-day Masterclass will be delivered by the world's leading expert in the field, Prof. John Drury, facilitated by Safe Events Global.
This Masterclass is aimed at people with a responsibility for or professional interest in planning for the safety of crowds.
Those of us that work with crowds depend upon knowledge of crowd behaviour and psychology in order to enhance positive crowd experiences, maintain safety and security, and to manage risks inherent in crowds.
TheMasterclass presents the latest scientific research evidence and thinking in crowd psychology. It will provide you with core concepts and principles transferable across a variety of domains, as well as presenting rationales for practice in specific areas.
It will offer a set of practical recommendations and guidelines on how to use group psychology to manage safety and enhance resilience in crowd events.
You will leave with a greater understanding of how harnessing the psychology of a crowd can help you keep your attendees safe as well as practical recommendations and guidelines to aid you in ensuring positive experienced for event attendees.

Prof. John Drury
Prof. Drury is Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Sussex, UK. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles on crowd behaviour. He has researched some of the world's major events and crowd incidents including the Hajj, the Hillsborough disaster, the London bombings of July 7th 2005 and many more.
He teaches Crowd Psychology to the UK Fire and Rescue Service as part of National Resilience training. His work with Public Health England on CBRN mass decontamination is included in international guidance. He is also currently the editor of the British Journal of Social Psychology.
This will be the 2nd time Safe Events Global has hosted Prof. Drury for a public course here in Ireland.

The content is similar to that of the first Masterclass Prof. Drury ran for us in 2020, albeit it has been updated, refreshed and reframed in line with global events, updates to research and understanding etc.
NOTE
This Masterclass will include an Assessment this time which, if completed successfully, will result in attendees receiving a Certificate of Completion. Otherwise, attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance. The Assessment will be in the form of a short multiple-choice / single line answer questionnaire that will be submitted to Prof. Drury for marking.
