Additional Information

Do you know what Martin Luther and Johann Sebastian Bach have in common? They are both linked to the attractive, small city of Eisenach with its well-preserved old town, located on the edge of the Thuringian Forest. High up on the hill above Eisenach towers the town's most famous landmark, the medieval Wartburg Fortress. This UNESCO World Heritage is best known as the place where Martin Luther sought refuge following his excommunication and translated the bible into German.

Due to corona restrictions only virtual guided tours exists. If you want to get one, please bring your headphones. Moreover, don’t forget your mask. The train from Göttingen to Eisenach takes 2 hours and is free if you have a semester card. You either join our city tour only or visiting Wartburg castle as well. The focus of the event is visitng the castle, so the city tour is rather short. The entrance to Wartburg costs 9 € with ESNcard or 9.50 € in case you still don't have one.
