National Air Event 2025

The National Air Event, ‘Clean Air, Healthier Lives’, will take place in person in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel on Thursday 20th November 2025. The conference is targeted at Local Authorities, Regulators, Academics, Air consultants and advocates for cleaner air. All presentations will be recorded and will be shared via our EPA YouTube channel shortly after the event. 

While Ireland currently meets EU air quality standards, we are projected to fall short of the stricter air quality standards set for 2030 under the new Ambient Air Quality Directive. We need to do more to protect clean air in towns, villages and cities across Ireland. 

Localised pollutants of concern, such as a particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide have been identified across the country. According to European Environment Agency estimates, up to 1,700 premature deaths per year in Ireland are due to air pollution. Ireland set ambitious air quality targets in our Clean Air Strategy in 2023 and, in addition, the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment is close to transposing the New Ambient Air Directive that aligns more closely with the WHO Air Quality Guidelines. 

This in-person event is an opportunity for those interested in improving air quality to learn more, from a range of speakers, about new developments including air quality policy, legislative changes, the challenges ahead, the air quality action and air quality research findings, demonstrating impact on our Health. 

Speakers include representatives from the European Commission, Department of Climate, Energy and Environment, the Environmental Protection Agency (DCEE), Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), Asthma Ireland, The Heart Foundation, amongst others. 

CPD

The event is CPD Approved by Engineers Ireland. Attendees will have the option to request a CPD certificate during registration. Certificates will be distributed by email following the event.
