2024-2025 Media, Internet & Data Protection Bar Association (MIDBA) Membership
The Media, Internet and Data Protection Bar Association (MIDBA), supported by the Bar of Ireland, is a specialist association for barristers who practice in, or have an interest in, those areas of law.
MIDBA seeks to advance knowledge in these dynamic and fast-developing areas of law. Given the seismic changes in the media landscape in recent years, and with many of the largest technology companies having their European headquarters located in Ireland, it is essential that law practitioners are kept up to date on developments in these complex and fast-moving areas of law.
MIDBA offers full membership to practising barristers, and affiliate membership to individual and firm of solicitors.
The Membership Fee are:
- Free for years 1-3,
- €25 for years 4 - 7,
- €50 for years 8+
- €100 for Senior Counsel.
- Affiliate Membership* (Individual) is €100
- Affiliate Membership* (Firm) is €500
*Associate Membership is open to any solicitor, or qualified barrister or solicitor currently employed as an in-house legal practitioner. It provides for all the privilege of full membership, other than voting rights at General Meetings and membership of the MIDBA Committee. Associate members may, however, be co-opted onto sub-committees.
Membership year starts in October 2024 & expires at the start of October 2025.

Given the seismic changes in the media landscape in recent years, and with many of the largest technology companies having their European headquarters located in Ireland, it is essential that law practitioners are kept up to date on developments in these complex and fast-moving areas of law. MIDBA intend to hold regular seminars to promote awareness of the developing law. As well as an annual conference open to all members of the legal profession and relevant industry professionals, which will consider the major issues pertaining to media, data protection and internet law from the previous 12 months. MIDBA offers full membership to practising barristers, and associate membership to an individual solicitor, or firm of solicitors.
