A Mediation 'Fishbowl'
Invitation from: GEMME Ireland
Location: The Bar of Ireland, Distillery Building (The Gaffney Room)
Tea/Coffee from 4.15pm
Followed by a reception (sponsored by GEMME Ireland) in the Sheds
Fiona McAuslan (Director of Mediation Services, Legal Aid Board) and Noreen Fitzpatrick (Managing Mediator, Family Mediation Service) will facilitate a mediation ‘fishbowl’ over a period of an hour-and-a-half or so, with mediator – Pauline Eustace – mediating a dispute between two neighbours (played by professional actors). The experience, from an audience perspective, will be immersive and organic and, to that end, the event is in-person only and will not be recorded.
The ‘hoped for’ learning outcome is that attendees will better appreciate the skills required of a legal practitioner (also known as ‘mediation advocacy’) in assisting a mediator to facilitate dispute resolution. These skills are relevant across a wide range of disputes, from commercial to workplace, from professional negligence to equity, from probate to family, and beyond!
Please do come along (Register below by 12 November) and be prepared for a bird’s eye view of how (and why) mediation works! All are welcome!
Registration for this event is being managed by the Bar of Ireland
