Litigation Funding in the UK

This event will examine recent developments in litigation funding in Ireland, the EU and the UK. In particular, in light of the important judgment of the CJEU in Case C-253/23 ASG2 of 28 January 2025 regarding the use of assignment of claims in competition law proceedings.

The event will be particularly topical given the Law Reform Commission’s ongoing consideration of third-party litigation funding. The UK perspective will be particularly interesting, given the various mechanisms for litigation funding available in that jurisdiction.

At the end of the presentation, participants will:

* Understand the recent case law in Ireland on litigation funding

* Understand the recent judgment of the CJEU in Case C-253/23

* Understand the options for litigation funding, in particular, in light of the UK’s experience
