6G4Society - Final Event
Overview
Currently, few technologies generate as much global competition and collaboration as 6G networks. With deployment anticipated by 2030, every region must make strategic choices that will shape the decade ahead.
6G4Society has been dedicated to exploring how 6G can serve people and communities through a strong focus on social sustainability. As part of the SNS JU programme, the project has worked to strengthen the understanding of how societal aspects connect with and influence the environmental and economic dimensions of sustainability. Through collaboration with various 6G-IA and SNS JU working groups, projects, and a broad network of stakeholders, 6G4Society has advanced approaches and frameworks that highlight the interconnections and trade-offs between these pillars.
Sustainability is at the heart of Europe’s 6G vision, not only as a goal but as a guiding principle for design and development. 6G4Society supports this vision by promoting the integration of societal, environmental, and economic values in 6G, ensuring that its design, development, and adoption contribute to a fair, inclusive, and sustainable future. The 6G4Society Final Event 2025 will bring this vision to life through dedicated sessions exploring each sustainability dimension and will gather the community of individuals and organisations working together toward a 6G that enables sustainable progress across all aspects of society.
Objectives
- To demonstrate how mobile network development is working to align technical trajectories with sustainability, focusing on social sustainability.
- To highlight the interdisciplinarity that is needed for Europe’s 6G vision and the creation of socially relevant use cases.
- To present our tools, frameworks, and findings developed by 6G4Society: Social Acceptance of Technology (SAT), KVI/KSI Framework, KVI Ontology, and Citizen Questionnaire.
- To propose recommendations on short and long-term actions that can assist the SNS JU community to make 6G use cases that are sustainable, inclusive, and aligned with societal needs.
