Design the Future
The 100 Archive, Hurrah Hurrah, Chapter and artist Deirdre Breen team up to deliver talks and workshops for Culture Night in Cork's Lifetime Lab. Looking at the role of design now and in the future, we invite people to explore how design can help us to meet the challenges our world is facing through a hands-on family workshop, while a programme of short talks teases out the role of creativity in our world now and in the future. With support from the Creative Ireland Programme.
Family workshop, 5—6.30pm What challenges does our planet face and how can design help us overcome these challenges? This hands-on workshop for children and families is an opportunity to brainstorm ideas for a better future — for us, for our city, for the planet — and create a monoprint poster to communicate those ideas. Led by artist Deirdre Breen, this is an opportunity to cook up great ideas and get your hands dirty with some printmaking! This workshop is free but booking is required, and it is advised that you wear old clothes: monoprinting gets messy!
Drop in talks, 5.30—7.30pm Drop in for short talks from the 100 Archive and a number of designers, illustrators and educators about the role creativity has to play in the world now and in the future. No booking required
